Who are we?
In 1998, a crack amateur dramatics group was sent to prison by a military court for crimes against amateur theatre.
They promptly escaped from a maximum security dressing room to the Wilmington underground.
Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as am-drammers of little fortune.
If you have a proscenium, if no one else can help with the tea,
and if you can find them a tin of decent custard creams,
maybe you can hire…
The Pavilion Players.

Well... maybe not so dramatic!
We’re an amateur dramatics group of all ages who stage pantomimes, plays, quizzes, sketches and reviews at the Joydens Wood Community Centre in Joydens Wood. Our pantomimes are always in the middle of January, with a play in May, and either another play or alternative production in September…with the occasional quiz night squeezed in there mid-summer. We currently have around 25-30 members, but always happy to see a new face.
A little history...
So where did we come from and who are we? Originally all from theatrical backgrounds, we formed in May 1998 and set up base at the Hawley Pavilion in Hawley (where else?) which is where our name originated (Pavilion for those not paying attention!) It was at the Pavilion that we put on our first production, In A Lather, a quiz night based on soap operas, combining tough trivia questions with our own spoof soap operas.
Then, alas, the time came to leave our home at the Pavilion (it was either that or take up morris-dancing). It was then that we found our new home at the JOYDENS WOOD COMMUNITY CENTRE in Wilmington, Kent, England.
Not only did we get our rehearsal room, but this place had a STAGE!! Result or what!? It was time for the big one...a pantomime! Through sheer team effort (with more than a little help from mums, dads, and various other family members without whose input there would have been no panto) Cinderella was a complete success.
Now we are based at Joydens Wood Community Centre, affiliated to the JWRCA, with a steadily expanding membership (but there's still room for more!),
Welll, that's the PAVILION story. So, next time you're in the area (which is all the time if you live in Joydens Wood) or if you're visiting from afar, why not come along to one of our productions!
